Vector field Post-processing

Once vector fields have been obtained, different quantities can be interesting in the context of the Smart-Piv project:

• Vortex detection based on the computation of the vorticity field
• Vortex detection starting from the velocity gradient tensor (Jeong and Hussain, 1995)
• Determination of vortical structure trajectories
• Computation of time-statistical quantities
• Computation of ensemble–statistical quantities
• Determination of a quality index to report the reliability of the acquired data

All of these would be, in principle, implemented.
