The Graphical User Interface (GUI) is mainly
responsible for the development of a graphical work environment
aiming to provide operator with an user-friendly interface
to the SMART-PIV system. |
The GUI will display all commands and graphic
views (menu, buttons, on line help, 2D/3D visualisation, ...)
in a double operative mode: the first will be used by non-expertise
operators (user-friendly visualization of major experimental
and numerical results); the second by trained operators being
able to use commercial flow visualization SW. |
 |
 |
The GUI will be based on innovative algorithms
developed for data presentation in a user-friendly graphical
way, thus providing a significant improvement in the system
performance for a diffuse future use of PIV systems, which
are today restricted to researchers or professionally trained
operators only. |
The GUI Software will present the operator
with a suitable selection of information relevant for the
flow field in an interactive fashion, by means of simple mouse
operations. The output display will regard the following aspects: |
 |
 |
2D/3D-volume display of vector field (from
both Image Processing SW and Numerical Analysis SW);
2D/3D-streamlines and strikelines;
colouring of vectors according to some scalar field;
2D/3D-volume display of scalar fields, cut-out/scan through
volume possible;
detailed comparison of experimental results with CFD output
by means of simultaneous display of scalar fields/images and
vectors;
|
all displays including scales, grids and annotations;
real-time visualisation of correlation peak;
display of series of images (real-time view of the camera
output) and vector fields;
movies of all displays through time, storage of movies as
AVI-files.
