Business activities

The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is the oldest and most prestigious educational institution of Greece in the field of technology, and has contributed increasingly to the country's scientific, technical and economic development since its foundation in 1836. The participating group belongs to the Computing Systems Laboratory (www.cslab.ece.ntua.gr) - Institute of Computer and Communication Systems-NTUA. The CSLab’s Parallel and Distributed Systems Group (http://pdsg.cslab.ece.ntua.gr) undertakes several activities in the fields of high performance computing and networking, including parallel architectures, communication architectures (User Level Networking) for cluster computing as well as tools-compilers for parallelism especially using loop parallelisation and scheduling techniques. The group has assembled two Linux Clusters with 36 nodes (Pentium III) and both Fast Ethernet and Scalable Coherent Interface communication networks, used in several national and EU funded programmes. Its large computing infrastructure also includes several SUN Enterprise Symmetric Multiprocessing Processor (SMPs) Machines. The laboratory has a strong research background concerning advanced parallel architectures and optimised parallel applications.
